FAQs

  • The Kintsugi Circle holds a special place in my heart, created with the intention of providing support to women who have encountered challenges similar to my own. Trauma impacts everyone, but women often face distinct adversities in their relationships due to societal pressures, power dynamics, internalized sexism, and misogyny. The Beauty in Brokenness Circle is dedicated to the healing of women who have endured traumatic experiences in their relationships, which can encompass challenging divorces, abuse, rejection, infidelity, and abandonment. Moreover, it extends its reach beyond trauma recovery to address common post-traumatic consequences, including disempowerment, diminished agency, low self-esteem, societal rejection and stigma, marginalization, and feelings of shame.

  • You'll receive a worksheet where you'll document the progress of your desensitization and reprocessing journey. These structured worksheets are designed to empower you, encourage your active involvement, and provide control over your emotions.

During the trauma processing phase, you'll perform eye movements by tracking your hand as it moves back and forth, or tapping on specific sections of the worksheet. Essentially, you're taking charge of activating your own brain. Rest assured, it's a straightforward process, and I'll be right there to guide you every step of the way.

  • Every Circle is designed for a minimum of 4 women and a maximum of 12. This smaller size guarantees that I can offer optimal support to all participants. The intimate group size is also ideal for fostering strong connections and establishing a trusted community over the course of 8 weeks. Additionally, you'll have access to an online Community Space, allowing you to exchange messages, offer support, and share reflections between sessions.

  • While there is no requirement for you to speak within the group, we do encourage active participation. It's important that you feel comfortable with speaking because, at the very least, you'll need to say "hi!" I'm confident that as our sessions continue, you'll naturally want to engage more. I strive to cultivate a safe, non-judgmental, and open environment.

During the EMDR phase, there is no requirement to openly discuss or reveal the specific details of your trauma, as your personal experience can remain private. In the last few sessions; when we’re working on breaking and repairing your Kintsugi pottery, there will be ample opportunities for reflection and discussion.

  • Yes. This is very important as it enables me to guide you effectively. It also contributes to creating a sense of safety for everyone, as they know who is sharing the space with them.

  • The Kintsugi Circle treatment sessions are for adults - aged 18 and above. There is no maximum age.

  • Yes - Coming soon! Keep a lookout for Circles which will be held in London.

  • Absolutely! These sessions are not workshops or educational classes; instead, they constitute a therapeutic intervention, comprising eight carefully crafted sessions based on evidence-based guidelines to ensure the highest level of effectiveness and efficacy.

  • I understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise that could prevent you from attending a session. In such cases, please promptly reach out to me to notify me of the situation. It's important to note that sessions are not recorded in order to maintain confidentiality. Therefore, it is crucial that you can commit to the full 8-week program, as missed sessions cannot be rescheduled. You will have access to an online Circle Handbook, which contains reading materials, activities, and reflection exercises that you can use to catch up on any missed content.

  • The Kintsugi Circle uses the EMDR Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (EMDR G-TEP) first developed by Shapiro in 2013. G-TEP originated from disaster management situations such as humanitarian and natural disasters. It has a diverse evidence base supporting its efficacy and effectiveness for reducing symptoms of accumulative stress, acute stress and traumatic stress/disorders. It is now used across the world.

  • I will be launching Circles that address the trauma associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, as well as Circles specifically designed for those coping with the loss of a loved one. To stay informed and ensure you receive timely updates about the session dates, please consider subscribing to our mailing list. This way, you won't miss out on any important announcements.

  • The Kintsugi Circles welcome applications from individuals in the United Kingdom as well as from around the world. Please keep in mind that the sessions are scheduled in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

If you have any further questions please get in contact with me before booking.
